Most of the companies using Smartfacts use it a traceability platform across the whole “V” aiming to link engineering artifacts like requirements, test cases, architecture artifacts, source code and other pieces of information that might also be maintained in proprietary authoring tools. Nevertheless, there is more than traceability:

  Smartfacts comprises mechanisms to build links cross tool and cross domain to maintain traceability and provides powerful analysis mechanisms to generate the basis for better decisions.

To Take Full Advantage of the Smartfacts Platform

1. Cloud and on-premises

   Use the Smartfacts cloud platform https://go.smartfacts.com or the on-premises version of Smartfacts. You can find the prerequisites for the on-premises version here.

2. Modeling tool plug-ins

   In addition, you need to install a plug-in for your modeling tool. The plug-in allows you to publish a model from your modeling tool to the Smartfacts platform and use various Smartfacts features, such as commenting and cross model navigation in your modeling tool.
   Currently Smartfacts supports the following tools:

   • Cameo Modeler (Dassault Systems)

   • Enterprise Architect (Sparx Systems)

   • Innovator (MID)

   • MagicDraw (Dassault Systems)

   • Matlab Simulink Stateflow (The Mathworks)

   • Rhapsody (IBM)

3. Integration with IBM Jazz Engineering Lifecycle Management

4. OSLC Connector for Jira

   The Jira OSLC provider / consumer allows bi-directional linking of Smartfacts artifacts, IBM Jazz artifacts and any other OSLC source with Jira issues as well as unidirectional referencing from a description or comment. It fully complies with IBM Jazz global config management. More...

5. OSLC Connector for Confluence

   The Confluence OSLC Connector allows uni-directional references to Smartfacts artifacts and any of its supported modeling tools, IBM Jazz artifacts and any other OSLC source.
