Sharepoint Online

Overview

This page explains how to integrate Smartfacts CDCM (Cross Domain Configuration Management) with SharePoint Online. Users will learn how Smartfacts CDCM references SharePoint Online documents to define configuration items. The section includes a step-by-step guide for enabling the connection and highlights key integration features.

Details

Understanding the Integration

Smartfacts CDCM integrates with SharePoint Online by referencing specific documents stored within SharePoint sites. In the configuration item picker within CDCM, users can select:

  1. A SharePoint site

  2. A document library within that site

  3. A specific document (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

The configuration item then saves the reference to the selected document, enabling traceability and document version control.

Steps to Enable SharePoint Online Integration

Prerequisites

Before enabling SharePoint Online integration, ensure the connection is configured via Connection Routing. Refer to Connection Routing for detailed setup instructions.

Enable SharePoint Online in the Configuration Area (see Configuration Areas ):

  1. Navigate to the Configuration Area where SharePoint Online integration is required.

  2. Enable SharePoint Online as an option for that configuration area.

Using SharePoint Online in Configuration Item Creation

  1. When creating a configuration item:

    • Select SharePoint Online as the storage location (pre-enabled).

    • Choose the relevant SharePoint site from the available list.

    • Select the desired document library within that site.

    • Choose the specific document (e.g., a Word or PowerPoint file) to associate with the configuration item.

  2. Save the configuration item with the selected reference.

Best Practices

  • Ensure the SharePoint Online connection setup is correct and functional as described in the linked Connection Routing documentation.

  • Enable SharePoint Online integration only for relevant configuration areas to maintain focus.

  • Periodically review site permissions to ensure secure access to documents.
