Setting up a Smartfacts project and publishing a model to it
Prerequisites
Make sure that you have installed the Smartfacts plug-in for Cameo Systems Modeler. The same plug-in also works for CATIA Cyber Experience Engineer and MagicDraw.
Download the plug-in via the main menu > Get Plug-ins > MagicDraw
In Cameo, open the Resource/Plugin manager via Help > Resource/Plugin Manager
Click Import and select the downloaded zip from step 1
Restart Cameo
Setup a project in Smartfacts
All information you use for managing traceability is structured in projects. You must own the role Project Manager to start a new project.
Switch to the Smartfacts platform.
Select My Project from the screen menu.
Select New Project from the local menu, add title and description and start the new project. By default, you are now the one and only project owner and the only user who can see the project.
Under My Project you can add more users of your organization to the project.
Publishing a model to Smartfacts
Switch to Cameo and make sure that your model is saved or committed. Reload the plug-in via the plug-in menu. The project you have just started will automatically set a your current project in the plug-in. You will see a red triangle indicating that Smartfacts so far does not know your Cameo model.
Click menu > publish.
Select if you want to publish. If you have never published a model before, you need to publish a new model from the options:
a new model
a new version of a published model
update the latest version of of a published model
Select a folder within your project tree where you want to publish your model to.
Start the publishing process by clicking publish.
Reload the plug-in via the plug-in menu. The red triangle should now disappear. This means that your Cameo model is now connected to the published version on the Smartfacts platform.
Set the visibility rights on the Smartfacts platform
Smartfacts has a governance model that allows you to define who of your project’s team members can see, navigate and find the model content. In order to set the model governance, do the following steps:
Switch to the Smartfacts platform
Open My Project and select the Content tab
Open the folder and use the local menu of the model you have just published to open Governance & Visibility.
A user who should see a model must be part of the project team and he must have visibility or model ownership rights. There are three options:
Switch to the model visibility tab and select global visibility. In this case, all team members of your project can see and find the model.
Switch to the model visibility tab and select visibility for users and groups and add specific users and / or groups. In this case, only the selected users can see and find the model within your project.
Switch to the model owners tab and provide model ownership rights to more team members. This will allow them to rename, update and delete the model.
