Overview

A Baseline Type in this context is a defined type within a configuration management system (CDCM) used as a "tag" or categorization for configuration items (CIs). Baseline Types serve as the foundation for structuring and tracking changes in configurations by defining specific versions or states that are verifiable and traceable, like quality gates.

Managing Baseline Types

A Baseline Type can be assigned to specific configuration areas and must be enabled for those areas.

  1. Navigate to Admin Area: Access the admin area of Smartfacts CDCM. (Cogwheel icon at the bottom left in the side menu)

  2. Select Baseline Types

  3. Choose an action

    1. To add a baseline type, click on button Add Baseline Type

      1. Set the following attributes

        1. Name (mandatory)

          1. Displayed name in the UI

        2. Key (mandatory)

          1. Key must be distinct and is used as a identifier

        3. Description URL (optional)

          1. An URL leading to a description for the baseline type

        4. Description (optional)

          1. An internal description for the baseline type

      2. Click on the Save button

    2. To delete a baseline type, click on the more button (three dots) and select Delete
