Configuration Areas

Overview

A Configuration Area represents a specific project or program within a Space. Each Configuration Area can encompass multiple units and serves as a container for organizing related configuration management activities. Configuration Areas provide a structured approach to managing configurations at a higher level of granularity.

Managing Configuration Areas

To configure Configuration Areas in Smartfacts CDCM, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Admin Area: Access the admin area of Smartfacts CDCM. (Cogwheel icon at the bottom left in the side menu)

  2. Select Configuration Areas

  3. Choose an action:

    1. To add a Configuration Area, press the button + Add Configuration Area at the top right corner.

    2. To manage an existing Configuration Area, select one from the list an click on it

      1. Apply the changes and press save

Attributes

Associated Unit Types (optional)

This list determines which Unit Types are allowed for Units within this Configuration Area. See Concept Types for more information about Concept Types.

Baseline Types (optional)

See Baseline Types

Associated Templates (optional)

Determines which Templates can be used for concepts within this unit. If a concept is a template can be determined by its type. See Template Use and Templates (Administration) .

Storage Locations (optional)

Assign Storage Locations that can be used for Configuration Items within this Configuration Areas. See Storage Locations

Title (mandatory)

Displayed title/name of this Configuration Area.

Key (mandatory)

Assign as a unique identifier for the Configuration Area. The key must contain only alpha-numeric character aswell as '-' and '_'.

Confidential (optional)

Set Configuration Area as confidential. This requires special permissions to be able to read this area. For more details see Roles and Permissions Management at chapter Access to Content.

Concept Type (mandatory)

Assign a Concept Type for this Configuration Area. See Concept Types .
