Jama Connect

Overview

This page provides guidance on integrating Smartfacts CDCM (Cross Domain Configuration Management) with Jama Connect. Readers will learn how Smartfacts CDCM references local configurations from Jama Connect to define configuration items. A step-by-step guide is included for setting up the connection, along with additional integration insights.

Details

Understanding the Integration

Smartfacts CDCM integrates with Jama Connect by referencing local configurations as external work products. These configurations can be:

  • Versions: Configurations that may be updated over time.

  • Baselines: Fixed configurations that remain unchanged.

The integration is enabled via the OSLC Connector for Jama Connect developed by MID, ensuring compatibility with OSLC standards.

Steps to Add a Connection to Jama Connect

To connect Smartfacts CDCM to a Jama Connect instance, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Administration Panel:

    • Open Administration > Storage Location in Smartfacts CDCM.

  2. Add a New Storage Location:

    • Click the + Add Storage Location button.

  3. Select the Storage Type:

    • Choose OSLC Configuration Provider from the available options.

  4. Enter the Root Service URI:

    • Provide the root service URI of the Jama Connect connector.

  5. Automatic Retrieval of Connector Name:

    • After entering the root service URI, the system will automatically retrieve and display the name of the connector.

  6. Verify the Connection:

    • The newly added storage location will appear in the list of storage locations.

    • You can now select OSLC Connector for Jama Connect as the target when adding a Jama Connect local configuration as a configuration item.

Best Practices

  • Double-check the root service URI for accuracy to avoid connectivity issues.

  • Use baselines for configurations that require stability and versions for ongoing updates.

  • Monitor updates to take advantage of upcoming support for working sets.

  • Periodically review storage locations to ensure all connections remain active and valid.
