Codebeamer Documents

Overview

This section provides an overview of how Smartfacts CDCM integrates with Codebeamer Document Trackers. You will learn how to reference versioned documents maintained in Codebeamer as configuration items in Smartfacts CDCM. This includes the process of connecting to Codebeamer using its REST API and managing document versions or baselines as part of your configuration management workflow.

Integration with Codebeamer Document Trackers

Smartfacts CDCM supports referencing local configurations as external work products maintained in tools like Codebeamer. These configurations can represent either versions, which may evolve over time, or baselines, which are immutable. Smartfacts CDCM allows you to reference specific versions of documents managed in Codebeamer.

Steps to Add a Connection to a Codebeamer Document Tracker

Follow these steps to set up a connection to a Codebeamer Document Tracker:

  1. Navigate to Administration > Storage Location.

  2. Click + Add Storage Location.

  3. Select Codebeamer as the storage location type.

  4. Enter a name for the storage location (e.g., “Codebeamer Document Tracker”).

  5. Provide the base URL of your Codebeamer instance.

  6. Save the configuration.

Once configured, the new storage location will appear in the list of storage locations. This enables you to select Codebeamer Document Tracker as a target when adding document versions or baselines to a configuration item in Smartfacts CDCM.

Best Practices

  • Naming Conventions: Use descriptive names for storage locations to facilitate identification.
